FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How often should my child meet with you?
This is a team decision that we’ll make together—there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. We’ll consider your child’s age, learning needs (academic and behavioral), and your family’s schedule and budget. To build consistency and momentum, we typically recommend starting with one session per week. From there, we can adjust as needed.
While tutoring is never intended to be a long-term solution, it can be an incredibly helpful short-term support during a critical window of development. For students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, or other learning differences, the road to progress can feel like a marathon rather than a sprint. Real growth takes time, repetition, and ongoing exposure—but our goal is always to equip your child with the tools they need to move forward with greater confidence and independence.

2. What do parents do during the tutoring session?
You’re welcome to stay and observe in the room or relax in our shared common area—you’ll still be able to hear the session. We offer hot tea, water, and WiFi to make your wait comfortable.

Some parents prefer to wait in the car or use that time to run errands—whatever works best for your schedule and comfort level. We want the space to feel flexible and welcoming for the whole family.
3. How long is my commitment to tutoring services?
We ask families to commit to one semester at a time. This helps us plan and make the best use of our schedule. If at any point it feels like the fit or focus needs to shift, we welcome an open conversation to revisit your child’s goals and progress.

Our ultimate aim is to help your child grow in skill and confidence—and to do so in a way that feels sustainable for your family.
4. $60/hour seems pricey. Why are your rates set at this level?
We understand that tutoring is an investment, and we’re committed to making it one that reflects high value. Our rate aligns with other providers in the area who bring similar levels of training and experience.

That hourly rate covers more than the time spent working directly with your child—it also includes planning, progress monitoring, and preparing individualized materials.

Most of our sessions are one-on-one, which allows for highly targeted instruction based on your child’s unique needs. While small group tutoring can be effective in some cases, individualized instruction often yields faster, more meaningful progress.

Our team has undergone extensive training in structured literacy and the science of learning. We continue to study and apply the latest research in reading, writing, and math instruction, and we’re committed to using practices that are not just evidence-based—but student-centered and responsive.
5. What forms of payment do you accept?
We use QuickBooks for invoices/billing, and can accept all forms of payment.
