FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How often should my child meet with you?
This is a team decision that we make together; there's no one-size-fits-all approach to tutoring! There are multiple factors to consider: your child's age, your child's instructional and/or behavioral needs, and your budget to name a few.

In order to maintain consistency and progress, I think a great place to start is once a week.

2. What do parents do during the tutoring session?
You are more than welcome to sit in the back of the room and observe during our tutoring session. You are also welcome to sit in the common area where you have the ability to hear, but not see, our session. I have hot tea, water, and WiFi available for your convenience.

With all of that being said, some parents feel more comfortable staying in their vehicle to enjoy some quiet time during the session, or may need to run some errands. Any of these options are OK! I want you to be comfortable.
3. How long is my commitment to tutoring services?
I ask that you commit to one semester at a time. This helps me manage my schedule and budget more effectively. If at any time you feel that this is not a good fit for your family, please communicate with me so we can reevaluate our goals and plan. I want your child to feel and be successful!
4. $60 / hour seems pricey. Why are your rates so high?
I think this is a classic example of "You get what you pay for!"My tutoring rates are aligned with other tutors and tutoring services in the area who have similar levels of experience and training that I do. My rate includes the hour that I'm actively teaching your child, but that price also reflects all of the pre- and post-work that goes into each session.

Most sessions are 1:1. If you were to take your child to a tutoring center, your child would likely be placed in a small group of other children with similar skills and needs. Small group settings can be really effective, but a 1:1 setting is the most ideal in meeting your child's needs.

Last of all, my rate reflects the quality of instruction and background knowledge that I provide. I have spent a lot of time training, researching, and studying the current brain research behind how children learn to read, and becoming a dyslexia specialist. I work hard to stay up-to-date in the field of literacy and math because I want to utilize the best, evidence-based practices.
5. What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, checks, Venmo, or PayPal.
