ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Katy! I am an Oregon native turned Iowan in 2011. I have over 15 years of teaching experience in various areas: upper Elementary, lower Elementary, Special Education, Montessori, Higher Education, and private tutoring to name a few. I am also currently taking classes to become a certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist with a planned completion date of December 2023.

I started offering private tutoring services in 2020 during the pandemic. I soon realized just how much I enjoy working with children one-on-one to help them feel successful. Since then my mission has been to help your child reach their highest potential through high-quality instruction built on a strong relationship. Under my guidance, your child will make academic progress while simultaneously boosting their confidence and self-esteem.

My background in Special Education and Montessori gives me a unique lens in which to view your child - as a whole child! Your child's test scores and/or report cards are just one (small) piece of the puzzle of who they are. I take time to get to know your child and who they are as a learner in order to maximize my instructional time with them. Your child is treated with respect, dignity, and compassion while in my care.
